The EU Considers Tax On Plastic Packaging
Commission member responsible for the budget of the European Commission, Gottotinger, told the media on the 10th in Brussels that the European Commission is going to levy a tax on plastic packaging in order to reduce environmental pollution and increase EU budget revenue.
Odinginger said that as the EU introduced a ban on the entry of foreign rubbish and the EU's export of plastic rubbish was affected, the EU hoped to reduce the use of plastic packaging through taxation.
He said details of taxing plastic packaging, such as taxing consumers and producers, and setting tax rates, are still under discussion.
Ootinger also said that the European Union plans to raise the funds the member states pay to the EU budget and reduce budgetary expenditures to fill the fiscal deficit left by Britain after Bretts.
