Ramesh Iyer has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Asahi Kasei Plastics.
Iyer took his new position on April 1. He will be responsible for the company’s facilities in the United States. These facilities produce compounds based on polypropylene, acetal and nylon 6/6, which are mainly used in the automotive market.
Iyer will report directly to CEO and Chairman John Moyer. Moyer had previously served as president.
Iyer has been the chief operating officer of the company since 2016. Under his leadership, Asahi Kasei Group expanded its product portfolio and expanded its business to the EU, China, India and Mexico.
Moyer said at the press conference: “In the past ten years, Ramesh has made impressive achievements in business, operations and strategy. He is an efficient and reliable leader, and he has good personnel training. Reputation. I am very happy that he has held the important position of Asahi Kasei at this important moment."
Iyer added that he "is honored to be the new position of Asahi Kasei Plastics and looks forward to working with John and the talented senior leadership team to realize our company's strategic vision and continue our company's global growth."
Asahi Kasei Plastics is a subsidiary of Tokyo Asahi Kasei Group. The company plans to open its first compound factory in Mexico by 2020.
