Nestlé has announced that the company plans to achieve 100% recyclable or reusable packaging materials by 2025.
The company’s vision is that all packaging, including plastic packaging, will not be landfilled or discarded.
Nestlé stated that the company is committed to playing an active role in the collection, classification and recycling plans of the countries it operates.
In addition, the company will work with value chain partners and industry associations to develop recyclable packaging and reduce the use of plastics.
As part of the plan, Nestle will put a label on resource recycling information on plastic packaging to help consumers deal with it in the right way.
Nestle CEO Mark Schneider said: “Plastic waste is one of the biggest sustainability issues facing the world today... We are committed to finding improved solutions to reduce, reuse and recycle waste plastics.”
He added that Nestlé’s goal is to achieve 100% recyclable or reusable packaging materials by 2025.
